the Perseids are this weekend. With it being a new moon there should be about 50-80 per hour.

Sept 1st is the Aurigids. Over 200/hr predicted!! Can only be seen on the West Coast

Head for the hills folks!!

up north - basically a loop. We'll cut over to highway 1 around Bodega Bay and lunch/tidepools/short hike just north of there, then set up camp around Manchester beach (just south of Mendocino). One of the 3 days we're there we'll drive up to Russian Gulch for the kids first long hike - inland to a sunken sea cave/waterfall that's supposed to be really cool. Our last night we'll be staying near Willits/Ukiah at a campground that is currently the kids favorite.... then an easy drive home down the 101.

I'll be camping at Sequoia NP this weekend. Any recommendations/suggestions for a spot away from the trees to get some good sky views? We're going to be at Dorst Creek car camping. Thanks!

Just be sure to watch Day of the Triffids before this weekend. :-)

We're planning a cookout/bonfire party in eastern ohio for members of HELMS and supporters of the Realms of Legend project.
