some tips

I did this on a recent minimalist backpacking trip into the hoosier National forest and thought I'd share it. I took eggs in a nygel bottle in my pack. I prebroke the eggs, added 1 tablespoon of water per egg and whisked them up for scrambles or omelettes then pours them in the wide mouth nygel abd left an inch and a half for expansion and froze them solid over night. After hiking in 5 miles and setting up camp they were still frozen but by morning in the tent they had thawed enough to use and I sure got smiles from the other guys scrambling up fresh eggs in the morning. I also had a wide mouth nygel full of pico de gallo to go with the eggs and they razed about that. I kept then both in the same pair of spare wool socks inside a zip lock bag. The frozen eggs kept the pico cold and fresh, It wasn't enough extra weight to be a problem and provided high quality nutrition on that first morning in camp.
My other tip is if you want something sweet that is a notch above and never spoils, EVER. try buckwheat honey. It is fantastic on pancakes (when you forget the real maple syrup like I did once) and it has enough flavor to stand up to nut butters in simple sandwiches. Remember the only food that never spoils is honey. and sometimes some quality sugar can give you that boost you need for that last few miles beofre camp or home. You might also like guava honey.
a quick recipe.......if you have a food processor or really good blender grind roasted cashews(1 pound) and dribble in walnut oil until it is a smooth paste(just a couple to few teaspoons of walnut oil) and you have a nut(legume actually) butter that is leaps and bounds beyond peanut(another legume) butter.
